Motivation – the Key to Health and Fitness

Motivation – it’s a pretty big deal right? Without the motivation or will-power to achieve goals and accomplish things nothing would ever get done and a lot of people would have a hard time even getting out of bed in the morning. That being said, what is the most important key to health and fitness? The motivation to get out of bed of course! It is having the drive to workout, to buy healthy foods, to eat smaller portions, to do the things you need to do in order to get and stay fit and healthy. Of course, enthusiasm for fitness is much easier said than done. Anyone can make a goal but it takes a person with true determination to turn those goals into reality. Here are some ways you can motivate yourself to stay fit:

Tell Friends and Family

Instead of making a goal and keeping it to yourself tell your friends and family what you are trying to accomplish. They can help motivate you and help hold you accountable when it gets to the nitty-gritty of “did you work out today?” Having someone to help encourage you and remind you is very inspiring.

Join a Group

There are so many fitness groups you could join! Join a gym, join a dance class, join a Facebook fitness group, or you could even create a group of your own. Post pictures of your workout or the food you are eating and get help and enthusiasm from others who are on the same path.

Write it Down and be Specific

Writing down your overall goal is great, but writing down the smaller goals that will help you get to your overall goal is even better. Do you want to lose weight? Great! What are you going to do to make that happen on a weekly basis? Or on a daily basis? Take your main goal then break it down into smaller goals and write them down. Checking your goals off as you accomplish them is extremely motivational.

Remind Yourself

Do what you have to do in order to remind yourself why you are trying to stay fit. Write it down, make a dream board, or say chant in your head. Do whatever it is you need to in order to remind yourself of your goals and why you want to stay fit and become healthier.
