Planning Your Wedding

Event Planning

Planning your wedding will consist of planning the following separate events respectively. Treat each event on its own and keep each event as unique as possible.

Planning Timeline

As you come across wedding magazines, wedding sites or attend wedding expo shows, you will probably begin collecting checklists to assist you with your planning. It did not take long for me to realize that our 'Armenian' weddings have about a thousand more additions than the typical 'American' wedding. So I was forced to complete a checklist, which would include all items, traditions, and steps, which we like to include as part of our traditional wedding.
Planning Your WeddingThe greatest influences on the type and size of wedding you will have will be depended on your budget. To establish an accurate distribution of wedding finances, you and your fiancé should first take a moment to discuss one another's wants, needs, and wish lists. Make appropriate adjustments and allocations based on what you have decided and what your budget permits. Remember that once you increase the expenditure in one area, you will decrease the available budget for the remaining areas. The next step is to prioritize!

Get started by looking at reception sites. Pick your preference for a wedding date and time, and finalize after okaying with parents, important guests, reception and church availabilities. Keep in mind major holidays and other important dates. When booking your church, try to book the latest block available. "The later, the better". More people will attend the ceremony if it is closer to the reception hour.

If you are having an engagement party, set a date as well.

Get organized, and start a notebook/file folder to house your entire wedding planning paperwork in one place. Begin working on a preliminary wedding guest list and decide on your wedding's approximate size. Request lists from both sets of parents and create your own wish list.

Start meeting with various photographers, videographers, florist, and other vendors that you plan to use. Get price lists and discuss your options with each.

Most importantly, relax and have fun orchestrating this very special, once-in-a-lifetime event - your wedding.
